Hearing Loss

Imagine hearing your loved ones clearly, or clearly communicating with those you’re closest to…

At ENT & Audiology Associates, we evaluate hearing for patients of all ages. Accurate diagnosis of type, degree, and configuration of a hearing loss is essential to determining the best management options.

Symptoms of Hearing Loss

If you or someone you know might have a hearing loss, you are not alone. Statistics tell us that it takes the average person seven years from the time they think they have a hearing loss until the time they seek treatment. If you think you may be suffering from hearing loss, please reach out to us for testing. Some symptoms of hearing loss are:

  • Muffled hearing
  • Other people seem to mumble
  • Asking people to repeat what they said
  • Listening to the television or radio at higher volume than in the past
  • Trouble understanding conversations, especially with background noise or when more than one person is talking
  • Ability to hear people speaking but not fully understanding the words
  • Difficulty understanding on the phone
  • Plugged feeling in the ear
  • Tinnitus or ringing in the ear
  • Withdrawal and avoiding social situations which are tiring and stressful when one is unable to understand conversation well
  • Depression

Learn from the Local Hearing Loss Community

Hearing Loss Association of America is the nation’s largest organization for people with hearing loss. HLAA exists to open the world of communication for people with hearing loss through information, education, advocacy and support.

Local HLAA chapters, like the one here in Wake County, are where the bulk of the HLAA magic happens. That’s where local volunteers meet regularly to share what they’ve learned. You’re invited to attend local chapter meetings, meet other members, learn from interesting programs, and read their online resources.

John G.
My family has been seeing Dr. Holmes for 20 years. Our first visit was with our son when he was 2 years old. Dr Holmes preformed a tympanaplasty that saved our son's hearing. Since then our entire family has been treated by Dr. Holmes for various surgeries and procedures. He is a highly skilled and focused doctor with a caring attitude. Thank you sir.
