Imagine no more sinus pain. Imagine being able to breathe freely through your nose…
We commonly see patients at ENT & Audiology Associates who are suffering from chronic pain and pressure in their face due to their sinuses.
One of the more common reasons patients visit ENT & Audiology Associates in Raleigh is sinusitis. It is a common bacterial infection of the sinuses that occurs after a viral upper respiratory infection. The ill effects include nasal congestion and drainage that persists more than 10 days with facial pain, fever and headache. Treatment with decongestants and antibiotics may shorten the course of the infection.
However, if these symptoms persist despite the antibiotics and decongestants, then you should contact ENT & Audiology Associates to schedule an appointment with Dr. Holmes. Sometimes sinus surgery is necessary to open up the normal sinus drainage pathways.
Recent advances in the technique of sinus surgery have nearly eliminated the need for incisions outside the nose. The surgery is now done entirely through the nose with the use of small endoscopes. The high resolution of the endoscopes permits precise removal of infected tissue, while preserving normal sinus lining. This leads to shorter recovery time with less post-operative pain and scarring. In addition to the endoscopic technique, Dr. Holmes uses state-of-the-art balloon sinuplasty techniques and CT image-guided surgery for greater effectiveness and enhanced safety.
Balloon sinuplasty, also known as balloon catheter dilation is surgery with literally no cutting of nasal bone or tissue. The procedure is most often recommended for people with chronic sinusitis when other treatments have been ineffective. Since we provide local or general anesthesia right here in our office, we can perform the surgery in-house. If you’re suffering from chronic sinusitis symptoms we can help.
